Position: Senior Transport Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible for executing SAP-related functions within the Transport Department, specifically as a trained core user for TMS (Transportation Management System) and MM (Materials Management).
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the transportation unit, including fleet assets and team members.
- Manage daily operations of ongoing transport projects and act as a communication link between project planning teams, line managers, and stakeholders.
- Ensure efficient movement of customer goods from production sites through the supply chain to the final consumer.
- Set and maintain high standards for transportation service quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with self-collection customers.
- Create and manage departmental budgets.
- Oversee truck scheduling and coordinate transport operations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections on all transportation equipment.
- Organize employee training programs on machine handling and safe practices, including hazardous materials management.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicles, schedules, and deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with internal transport policies and legal shipping regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with safety laws and transport industry standards.
- Maintain digital databases for fleet management, including sales, registration, inspection, and maintenance records.
- Ensure the availability of vehicles through effective scheduling and analysis of usage trends.
- Arrange fleet support and staffing for special events and projects.
- Monitor fleet activities to ensure alignment with state and local regulations.
- Implement corrective measures and training programs to enhance fleet operations and support company goals.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping of vehicle usage through properly maintained driver and vehicle logbooks.
- Oversee licensing, renewals, and statutory registrations for all vehicles.
- Review and approve vehicle fueling requests in line with authorized budgets.
- Coordinate routine servicing and repairs, maintaining relevant records.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, document issues, and report findings to the department head with recommendations.
- Liaise with authorized workshops to ensure timely and complete servicing of company trucks.
- Compile and submit detailed monthly fleet status reports.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Transport and Logistics is required.
- A Master’s degree with a focus in Transport and Logistics is preferred.
- At least 20 years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 10 years specifically in transport operations.
- Possession of a recognized professional certification in procurement and logistics.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications.
- Capable of applying scheduling methods effectively in day-to-day tasks.
- Familiarity with both manual and digital record-keeping systems.
- Strong skills in problem-solving and conflict management.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
